This intermediate workshop explores existing pediatric integrated primary care (PIPC) models, describes a comprehensive training PIPC, and outlines considerations necessary for successful implementation of PIPCs (e.g., considerations when working with interprofessional teams, impact on access to care and reducing costs, and PIPC competencies in psychology trainees). The presenters also discuss applications of PIPC in various settings and practices.  Original webcast date: August 5, 2020.

Presenters

Lisa Ramirez, PhD

Dr. Ramirez is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, Associate Director of the Psychology Post-Doctoral Program and Director of Community and Behavioral Health for MetroHealth System’s School Health Program. Dr. Ramirez is an expert in integrated primary care, and in creating services and programs that address barriers to equitable health care and increase access to high-quality mental health interventions for children and families.  She works closely with community partners and civic leaders to educate community stakeholders the effects of toxic stress on child development.
 

Julie Pajek, PhD

Dr. Pajek is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, and Primary Care Track Lead for the MetroHealth System’s Pediatric Psychology Internship Program. Dr. Pajek is an expert in early childhood development and models of pediatric integrated primary care.  She is especially interested in interprofessional training and education, and she leads initiatives within pediatrics to improve behavioral health competencies and overall wellbeing.
