In response to the COVID-19 national public health emergency, a multitude of behavioral health providers have transitioned from traditional in-person treatment models to telehealth. This unprecedented shift in treatment modality has greatly affected the behavioral health workforce, which predominantly lacked professional telehealth training, and presented unanticipated challenges associated with working from impromptu, home-based offices while providing treatment directly in patients’ homes.  This intermediate workshop addresses the telehealth needs of behavioral health providers who are working from home-based offices while simultaneously reaching into their patients’ homes. Participants learn about relevant legal and ethical issues, appropriate home-office set-up and technology selection, and telehealth reimbursement models.  Original webcast date: August 6, 2020.

Learning Objectives

  1. Outline factors related to choosing technology specific to the treatment setting and patient population.
  2. Identify key legal and ethical issues relevant to practicing from a home-based office.
  3. Describe reimbursement issue relevant to home-based care.
