Description

Working with LGBTQ clients and their families requires practitioners to be aware of multiple ethical codes, cultural competency standards and clinical interventions. Practitioners address issues around homophobia, transphobia, gender discrimination, religious or spiritual beliefs and sexuality in themselves, society and their clients. This webinar will cover applicable codes and cultural competence standards, definitions of gender, gender identity, sex, and sexuality, language use considerations, transition stages, confidentiality boundaries and best practices for informed consent. Original webinar date: October 7, 2022. CC.

Ruth A. Lipschutz, ACSW, LCSW,

Ruth Lipschutz, LCSW, ACSW, is a licensed clinical social worker with extensive experience in the areas of ethics, school social work, gender identity, addictions, traumatology, consultation and mediation. She served as the chairperson of NASW’s National Ethics Committee and currently serves as a consultant, mediator and trainer for the NASW Illinois Chapter Ethics Committee.  She has served on the NASW National and Illinois Boards. She has a private practice and offers ethics consultation and training to mental health professionals.
