This webinar showcases focused brief group therapy (FBGT) an integrative interpersonal approach. The model is designed to reduce interpersonal distress in eight sessions or less.   The founder of FBGT, Dr. Martyn Whittingham outlines how Yalom's work was adapted into a ten-session model that uses the interpersonal circumplex to personalize and bring focus to treatment.  Outcome and process-outcome research is discussed, and key theoretical premises outlined, including mechanisms of change and structure of the model. Original webinar date: June 12, 2024. Presenter

Martyn Whittingham, PhD, CGP, FAGPA, FAPA

Dr. Whittingham is a licensed psychologist in Ohio. He is a former President of Division 49 of the American Psychological Association. He is also a Fellow of the American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA) and Division 49 (Group Psychology and Group Psychotherapy) of the American Psychological Association. He has been the recipient of several national awards for group therapy including Division 49's Arthur Teicher Group Psychologist of the Year, 2023 and Group Dynamics Teacher of the Year, 2021.
